A GOOD .577 (SNIDER) MODEL 'MKIII SNIDER 3-BAND VOLUNTEER'
This is a very good Example of a 3 band Snider built by James Kerr a very well-known and respected gunmaker of 54 King William St EC London. It has been built using parts from the London Armoury Company (LAC) and upgraded by James Kerr. The LAC was manufacturing parts for the Pattern 53 Enfield and Snider conversions between 1857 and 1862 www.londonarmoury.co.uk/our-story The LAC parts were seen as of the highest quality.
After the rifle was completed and at possibly a later date it was sold again by another gunmaker Thomas Turner whose name is engraved on top of the barrel. The stock has been lengthened at some point possibly by Thomas Turner for a new customer. Unfortunately the fit of the tang on the butt is not perfect, but not really noticeable.
This rifle has been tested and despite some pitting in the barrel it is very accurate should you wish to shoot it.
Our photographic ability’s do not do this rifle justice.
